Your trusted companion along the journey towards healing.

There are many reasons why you might be on this page, considering therapy. You could be feeling anxious or low. You might feel lonely, struggling to connect with others, or experiencing relationship difficulties. Maybe recent events or past traumas are making it hard to cope today.

You may have worked with another therapist before, and things didn’t click, and you’re wondering, “what now?”.

Or perhaps, you cannot quite put your finger on the problem, but you know that something doesn’t feel right, and life isn’t working out the way you want it to.

You may feel stuck and unsure of which way to turn or have found it difficult in the past to find someone you can trust and will understand – or, in such a busy world, has the time to listen.

This is where I come in.

Hi, I’m Ruth Dixon

A qualified, experienced psychotherapist and a trusted companion along your journey towards healing.

You could say I’ve been training for this role all my adult life, learning about myself and others. You see, I have been brought to the brink by trauma myself. I know what the body can do, as I’ve witnessed it firsthand. In fact, I learned how to heal myself through my nervous system and continue to do so daily.

My mission is to support others who feel trapped in their trauma and show them that there is a way out and that they have the innate power and ability to heal.

Instead of ready-made answers or cookie-cutter advice, I offer a safe space free from judgement, where you can learn to listen to your body and be heard without preconceptions.

You’re welcome to read more below about my private practice, qualifications and clinical experience.

But really, none of that is as important as this: I see you, and I’m here to help.

My Method

Working with a therapist has a liberating effect.

In fact, many of my clients often describe it as freeing – with the space to finally open up, explore their feelings, and deal with problems or life’s uncertainties with guided support.

In our work together, you can expect confidential, professional therapy in a comfortable private setting. I don’t believe in practising at a distance; I bring my real self into the room in an accessible and open way. I’m wholeheartedly invested in the people I work with and believe therapy works best when it’s a collaborative process.

I work from an integrative perspective which means I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach; instead, I use several different therapeutic techniques, including Somatic Experiencing & EMDR. This allows me to work collaboratively with clients to identify their strengths and preferences to find a therapeutic style that suits them.

My Background

I’m fully qualified in both Somatic Experiencing and EMDR, as well as holding Higher Honours BA degrees in both Psychotherapy and Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy. I continued my studies in the area of trauma, studying with the world-renowned trauma expert Babette Rothschild in London, UK, as well as numerous courses with the National Institute for Clinical Application of Behavioural Medicine.

I am a fully qualified practitioner with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute, and this framework of therapy informs the majority of my clinical work, both with adults, children and adolescents.
