Current research carried out by leading trauma experts such as Dr. Bessel van der Kolk has shown that a staggeringly high percentage (over 80%) of patients diagnosed with Personality Disorders which Bipolar Disorder is often mistaken for, have reported some form of extreme childhood trauma. Also emerging from research carried out by leaders in the field of Neuroscience such as Dr. Allan Shore, is the evidence that detrimental impact trauma has on brain circuits IN UTERO.  The use of medications in the field of Mental Health cannot be discounted nor can the overwhelming evidence emerging from the research into the impact trauma has on an extremely high percentage of the population.
